There are two categories in which I would classify my internship learnings:

1. The YEWS Culture of Personal + Professional Growth.

2. Digital + Content Marketing.

Describing the value and the unique feeling within the YEWS workplace is a tough task.

To summarise, it’s the feeling of being within a collective of people with a growth mindset. Alexei’s vision for the organisation and team members is a progressive trajectory.

One of the first things I noted when joining the internship programme is everyone’s pace. It’s fast-moving. I think that really comes down to everyone’s motivation and dedication to getting best-outcome results for themselves and their clients. Also, everyone is open and transparent with their work tasks and personal growth goals which means you’re constantly sharing the wins and set-backs as a team.

Secondly, the digital + content marketing tactics I have learned in a 12-week period have superseded much of my 4-year academic learnings. I learnt about content and digital marketing strategies of which I had never heard and was quickly putting them in place. Most importantly, I had the balance between guidance from mentors and autonomy to try new strategies setting up things like Google Ads Management from scratch.

My favourite aspects of the internship include when:

  • Always feeling comfortable in raising my ideas right from the first week.

  • I was constantly encouraged to self-learn, in addition to learning directly from my mentors’ industry expertise.

  • I was given agency over executing digital marketing campaigns from start-to-finish.

  • My blogs were published with my by-line attached.

  • Always receiving constructive criticism and feedback that has assisted in my enormous personal and professional development.

If you are looking for an internship that is practical, tailored to your skill set, one that enables your contribution to a great team, I highly recommend an internship with Alexei and the team at YEWS. My only advice is that you will get back as much as you put in, so be prepared to work hard and witness rapid growth.
